Review: dresses by Curvissa

In previous post we reviewed tunics by Curvissa. Obviously, we didn’t stop there and we have more for you today. Patchwork dress – size 20 Margot    I tend to avoid shift dresses, because they make me look weird, but I fell for the pattern and, to my surprise, discovered that the style is quite nice. The length and fitting seem to work for me. Somehow this dress is not as shapeless as the other shift dresses and hence clings well to my curves. One thing though – it forms a bit of a tent underneath my bust, apparently this style …

Reviews: tunics by Curvissa

Curvissa is yet another plus size fashion retailer, offering a large choice of clothing and lingerie for plus size ladies. We’ve decided to order several things from there and give you some insight on the quality and fitting of their products. Amy Jones tunic dress – size 20 Margot As I already mentioned, orange and brown is one of my favourite colour combinations, so when I saw this one in a shop, I couldn’t resist. Colours and dipped hem really made the tunic worth trying on. In terms of appearance, I am really happy with it. The little zips around …

Reviews: dresses Sens and Frontera by BiuBiu

As you probably already know, Biubiu is a Polish brand that designs clothing for different bust sizes. Along with Pepperberry, it’s one of the first brands to do that, and we think it’s fantastic that such clothing exists and we don’t have to wear baggy tops and dresses to accommodate our busts anymore. We always look forward to the new designs Biubiu comes up with. Here’s a review of their two new dresses. Frontera black & grey – size 44 BB/BBB Ula I loved Gomera dresses and wore them a lot during Summer and Autumn, so I was happy to …

Boots, boots, boots! A/W 2013 picks

All plus size ladies know, how difficult it is to buy decent boots that fulfill our specific needs. I’ve always had rather slender calves, but still struggled to find long boots that I would be able to zip up – and all that even back in the days when I was wearing size 12! Now, being size 18, my legs got even more demanding, in terms of calf width, sole construction, heel height etc. I know that many of you, dear curvy ladies, will be struggling as much as I do, so to save you some time and pain, I’ll …

Review: Red And Black Tartan Check Print Mini Skirt by Yours

I must confess I usually don’t get along with the newest trends in fashion, but this autumn I’m quite happy with them, especially with purple skater dresses and tartan patterns. Yours has two checked beauties in store this fall: a dress a skirt I’ve decided to go for a skirt (in my usual size 20), since with someone of my height (5 ft 3″/161 cm) dresses always bring the risk of waistline falling in wrong place. Firstly, the skirt is very comfy to wear. It has elasticated waist and is made of jersey. Thanks to the fabric it’s also practical – …

Review: classic shirt and dandelion twist top by Pepperberry

This post is not intended to be a fashion rant, but I just cannot help it, I have to start with a little bit of bitching: in most of my favourite online stores collection autumn/winter 2013 sucks. Amari, BiuBiu and Pepperberry are probably the only stores where I liked anything of the new arrivals, and Pepperberry did such an excellent job that I want to buy half of their store (again). Since my wardrobe is about to explode, I have to be smart with my shopping, so I decided to buy only these two. Multistripe classic shirt – size 16 …

Biubiu – Portofino top and Noli dress review

I must admit that it took me a while to warm up to BiuBiu. I didn’t like most of their styles because of the cross-over cut, which was presented on tall women (and I really didn’t feel like wearing a v-neck reaching down to my bellybutton), or even if I liked something, my size usually was already out of stock. However, things have changed: they hired a model of my height and their style selection got somewhat more diversified. I gave it a shot and ordered some items from this year’s releases. Portofino top, black – size 44 BB/BBB Margot …

Berry skater dress by Evans – review

Margot Apparently purple skater dresses are very much “in” this fall, because I’ve found them in four different shops that I check out regularly: Evans, Yours, New Look and M&Co. As I previously stated, Yours is quite risky with defined waistline dresses because of my height, with M&Co it’s even worse (their petite collection goes only as far as size 18, I fit in their size 20), and lace is not exactly my thing when it comes to outfits (jewellery and lingerie are a different story). I would have probably dismissed Evans’ dress as well, if it hadn’t been for the …

Jackpot!

Today I’m going to tell you a tale about my most favourite clothing item – a jacket. Jackets are bliss. They accompany us in fancy jobs, protect from morning/evening chills, hide “love handles” and bring jeans & tee outfit to a whole new level of chic. I’ve worn jackets and blazers ever since I was a teenager, so you can imagine how thrilled I was when I noticed that they were “in” now and one can buy a jacket in any shop now, from Penneys (AKA Primark) to designer brands. Alas, quantity will never do for quality. Wearing jackets is …
